I don't know if it's because Halloween is around the corner or just this month, but I've caught up on basically all scary movies I've missed in 2010/2011.
I'm not one to go out to the movies. I hate the overpriced food, the people commenting, Michael Jordan's tall ass sitting in front of me, and most of all, having to pee all the time. I also hate buying movies, so I wait till a dvdrip torrent come's out so I can watch it. This usually happens a few months after the movie comes out. So I guess October just happened to be lucky.
I've always loved scary, horror, thriller, type movies. They've been my favorite. I know them like the back on my hand. When I get to watching them, I watch ALL of them, even the shitty ones. I also love ghost stories, I follow a few ghost story blogs on tumblr that I go to often.
It may come to surprise you that I am a little pussy when I watch these movies. I cover my eyes whenever the scary music starts to play, I scream like a bitch when something pops out of no where. Also, I'm afraid of the dark, and my basement. So it's funny that these are my favorite movies because I can't sleep half the night because I'm so scared.
Well, I came home from school today to steak taco's my mom had made. They were delicious. She was just leaving for work so I'd be home alone until I had to go back to school. Once she left I immediately got scared. I opened all the blinds, turned on the lights and kinda quickly started to put my shoes on. I don't know what but I was freaked out. So I left early. I wondered what the hell I was afraid of but I just left. So, I drove around for awhile and stopped at the trail off of Royce Road.
Once there, I sat in my car thinking I was just gonna nap till it was time to go to class. Instead I got out and started walking the trail. I barely had a coat, just some cheap hoodie from walmart. No headphones to listen to music, and actually no socks. It was very windy and pretty cold. I used to run and bike this trail last year, so it was odd not feeling the wind against me at 15mph. It was just the wind and me, no other factors. Since I didn't have music, I just listened to everything around. It was actually really calming. I had no one walking with me either, so I didn't have to worry about what to say, and there were only 2 couples walking around as well. The circle I walked around is about 8 miles if I remembered correctly, but it felt like one mile.
I don't know, it was nice to do something like that. I never walk anymore.

Today wasn't my kind of day
I spent all night watching season 1 of the "The Walking Dead". Everyone says that its unoriginal, and in reality, it's not. That doesn't stop it from being interesting though.
Anyway, I heard moaning upstairs around 1am. Not like sex moaning, like agony moaning. I sprinted upstairs and opened Dereks door. I asked him if he was okay, and he said "Yes", and he said he didn't make any noise. I looked to see if he was on his back, but he was laying on his side. I wanted to make sure he wasn't in sleep paralysis.
I then opened my Dads door. I couldn't see his face because it was dark. I was trying to listen to make sure he was breathing and then he said "Are you okay?" and I said "Yeah, I heard moaning, was that you?" and he said "Yeah, I was having a nightmare" and I just said goodnight, not before noticing he was laying on his back. Most likely in sleep paralysis.
Later in the day he told me about the dream. There were hooded figures trying to take him and they were all over the house. He told me he screamed "Dont take my children" and they told him they just wanted him. Kind of freaky.
I woke up this morning in an awful mood. Maybe I didn't get enough sleep. I woke up to a phone call from Derek telling me I had to get ready for school. Turns out he thought I had school at 10 and not 12. I laid in bed for awhlie realizing I was a bad mood. I also had a huge headache. I went downstairs to get some pills and water.
I popped in the shower. I decided to do it backwards. Shower first, brush teeth, and shave. Usually I do it the other way around. I guess I needed some spice in my life.
I wore my jeans, my old St. Dominic shirt and my Cubs cap. I took the drive to get some coffee. It was gloomy. It made me want to ride my motorcycle, but it was cold outside.
My mind was just so out of it. I started feeling depressed. I thought I'd feel better at school surrounded by people. Turns out everyone was just pissing me off. I hate all the fake people there.
I turned around and came home. Watched movies. Derek came home and I instantly started talking a lot.
I need to start seeing more of the people I love.

Free
This has turned into a motorcycle blog. I don't care much because it's my blog, and thats the biggest thing that's going on in my life. I'll see if I can update something else this time but..
Today was the first day I felt "Free" on a bike. It just happened, it wasn't one of those things where I wanted to feel "Free" but it's just how it went. I didn't ride yesterday, I spent the whole day watching scary movies, and by the end of the day (10pm) I was too tired to ride and plus I had to be up at 5 to get ready for work. I really did feel great though riding today after work. It was about 8pm and my Mom doesn't want Derek and I to ride at night. I bought my motorcycle..err am paying it off and I pay for everything about it. It's kinda the first serious thing I own that doesn't have my parents say in it. Tonight though when riding, I just felt...good. I have my bike down, I figured it out, and it just feels good. Riding today it felt like nothing else mattered, and it was just me (Even though when I'm riding with Derek I always look in my side view mirrors to make sure he's there). Riding has such a certain "High" that I love to hit when rolling around town. It really is great.
I'm still trying to hit 600 miles before winter starts so I can get it serviced and then I can store it. I have about 500 miles to go. It'll be expensive, but Mark said to bite the bullet the first time and to go from there. It sounds like a good idea with a brand new bike.
Other than riding, work is getting pretty crazy. Not crazy because anything is coming up, but it's getting crazy because there is a lot of stress that shouldn't be there. I'm okay with that because I really need the job, but if I had all my bills paid, I'd be out of there is a second.
Midterms are this week for me and I'm ready. I have a few papers to write and a test to take but I'm not the least bit worried. I'm not trying to sound cocky, but I'm just taking easy classes.
I wish the summer was longer. That, or I wish that I had the guts to buy a motorcycle this summer. I'd have more time with Mark, and a lot more time to ride, instead of trying to cram 600 miles in a few weeks.
The bike is my baby though. I wake up at night sometimes just to look at her. She's my favorite thing in the whole world.

Riding A Motorcycle
I've have just below 200 miles and less than a week of riding my brand new 2011 Honda CBR250r, and heres what I have to say about being a brand new rider.
Now, riding a motorcycle, once you get used to everything and you can ride it well. (Kinda just like driving a car). It's very fun and I love the rush. In fact, I think I've only driven my car once since I got the bike. It's just so much fun to ride. In my opinion, it makes you a better driver as well because you have to be more aware of what's going on in traffic. I've been cut off many times since getting a bike, and people have pulled in front of me without seeing me. It's a safety thing, but now I always think the worst. I'd rather piss off the driver behind me, than having that car about to hit me on top of me.
Now, I know the reason why you see so many bikers without a helmet and gloves. It's pretty simple. It's annoying to keep putting your gear on and taking it off when you're going to stores. Especially when you have a very bad helmet holder on your bike like on my bike. When you're driving a car, it's grab your keys and go. On a bike, you have to get a routine down. I put on my jacket, grab my glasses and gloves out of my backpack, put my helmet on, gloves, and then glasses. I can't seem to work my helmet with my gloves on, so for me it has to be in that order. For someone in a hurry, yes you have a bike, go fast, but this does take up a lot of time. It's the same when you're getting off and going into a store. Take of gloves, helmet, glasses, put it all in your bag. There are a lot of steps. Although I understand why people don't wear these things when they ride, it's still a part of safety.
There are many things I do miss about driving a car, that's for sure. For one, you don't have wind punching you because you ride a small ass wanna be crotch rocket/almost street fighter bike. I do miss listening to music. Any of you that know me, I love long drives while listening to my favorite soundtrack. It's honestly my favorite. I miss that when I'm at a stop light, it notices that I'm there and I'm heavy enough to set off the trigger. On the bike, I usually have to wait till a car comes up behind me. Also, I miss drinking my coffee/red bull on the way to somewhere.
Every morning before I go to my destination, I have to pre buy my coffee or red bull before I leave the house. I obviously can't be riding and hold a coffee at the same time. This goes into, "Is commuting on a motorcycle for me?"
Well, for me, If I wake up early enough, why not? Personally, I enjoy long showers, getting stuck in traffic, sipping my coffee, and smoking a cigarette on the way to work or school. One thing I can't get enough though is the gas mileage. Now since my bike is brand new, it's technically guzzling gas. Guzzling in this case is about 50 miles to the gallon on premium. I have a four gallon tank and I'm out of the gas station with about 10 dollar. I can't complain.
So, is motorcycling for you? The riding is faster but everything in between is slower. I plan for now just using the bike for pleasure, and going grocery shopping. ( I did this today, had about 50 pounds of groceries in my backpack).
Honestly though, I'm in love with it. If money is there, and you have the time, I really suggest you look into taking a safety class, getting your license and buying one.

Motorcycle!
Finally! After months of looking. I got one.
I've always been attracted to the 1984 Honda Nighthawk 700sc. That bike is basically an old school crotch rocket, and I hate the crotch rocket scene. So it was a number one choice at the time. Then, I must have saw a commercial or something for the 2011 Honda cbr250r. Everything clicked, a lower powered engine, nice colors, good styling, I had to have it. Something about the bike was just calling my name.
Heres a commercial.
http://vimeo.com/20627659
Thats basically me, without the Honda s2000 and the hot girlfriend. and the good looks. But this bike just screamed to me "individual". Mainly because what man is gonna say "Yeah I have a 250 size engine" when they could say "Yeah i got a 1000cc engine". Eff you. Go die, literally.
But really, this bike, was just..perfect in my eyes. Everything about it. At a low end buy in price made it more attractive. Going to different Honda dealers, they all wanted something different. I had a couple of good deals, a couple of horrible deals, and great deal(Which is the reason I bought). One place only had the abs model in stock, which i found stupid to spend 500 dollars extra on something I didn't really want. One place with the model I wanted wanted a 1300 dollar down payment. Eff you. I settled, and rejoiced the deal I got at Willy World Cycles in Joliet. Low down payment, low apr, and low everything. I was even able to make a deal with them about the out the door price.
After putting a deposit down, I had to wait till i got paid to put the rest of the money down. They told me they'd call me when the bike came in(I'd be at school so I could just stop by afterwards). As I'm about to talk out (Thursday) a truck pulls up. My salesman (Mitch) says "oh hey, there's your bike)
An ABS model and a regular model were the one bikes on the truck. I was able to wheel mine off.
And there she is. The bike I've been wanting for months. I decided to name her "Faye". If you can guess why, power to you. Mark so far has been the only person to guess correctly on the first try and know for a fact why I picked that name. It fits though, and I'm happy.
I couldn't sleep that night because I was so excited about getting the bike. I had work the next morning so I had to wait after work to go get it. Finally (Today_errr..yesterday, Derek drove me to Joliet so I can pick it up)
I filled out the rest of the paperwork, put the rest of my deposit down, had a big fist bump and hand shake, and I was ready to go. I guy explained to me all the features and I was surprised.
Now when I first rode it I said personally to myself "Oh my God...this feels pretty bad". I was a bit upset with myself. It turned out that I had only been out of practice of a motorcycle, and I was wearing bad boots. So once I got home, changed, and rode agai, I fell in love. It's everything I dreamed it would be and more. It's really a great machine.
I drove it home in the rain and cold. Perfect bonding moment.

Chicago Cubs
Yeah, people have been asking me "What's your sudden obsession with the Cubs this year"? Or "Why do you like sports all of a sudden?" To clarify, I've always been a cub's fan. Never really been to any games, but I did watch a few in the past years. I kept up with the big spots. I've been distracted though with work, school, and girlfriends.
I first became a Cub's fan in 2003. Not really a fan of baseball, the Cub's had a playoff run that year. Everyone in my class was rooting for the cubs, including my teachers. Sadly, we all know the story that year. Ever since then I've been a cubs fan.
Almost a decade later, I practically watched every Cub's game this year and scheduled my schedules around watching the games. The excitement of seeing the rookies, new players, as of the veterans that are still there from the 2003 team. The biggest reason I got so into the year, was because I didn't have anything else. School was school, my bestfriend was slipping out of my hands, and I really didn't have anything else. Opening day was that year, so I decided to watch, and get ready. I figured out the new roster and fell in love with them.
It also was a way to get closer to my family. Aside from my mom, I was able to get my dad and my brother to keep up with every game. We watched a lot of them together and It was a nice way to connect since i don't spend a lot of time with my dad.
Unfortunately, this year was another bad Cubs season. It started with Dempster getting a loss, and ended with dempster getting a loss.
See you next season cubbies.

Scootaz and goodbye V
Been quite busy getting this whole scooter thing for Derek figured out. In reality it seems like the heavens didn't want Derek to have a scooter. He was side lined from buying it and getting his license this week. Didn't stop him though. After waiting a few days, putting a deposit down so we can hold it, and some money borrowed from me, it's finally in our garage.
Original plan was for me to drive it home from Des Plaines Honda, but I felt like I'd be a better navigator home in the car, and plus he had more experience on a scooter than I did. I was a bit afraid I'd hit the rear break like it was a clutch. Anyway, after the pouring rain that he rode through, we made it to North Ave where the sun was shining. Of course two hours after we got home, the sun would shine until night fell. It's all good, he got the experience of riding in the rain.
Our parents knew we kinda we gonna get bikes, and surprisingly after huge "NO"'s the past 5 years, they were okay with it. Just got the normal "Be very careful" blah stuff. Of course we will be. We don't want our bodies ending up in 5 different places on the road.
Aside from the scooter, and going off topic, my Dad sold my Gibson Flying V at a guitar show. We never played it, not something that really fits into my tone. Plus, the neck had warped from being in the basement for so long. We actually broke even on the sale. Which is good. I did a "Last play" on the guitar and it ended up cutting into one of my blisters. Good riddance.
Derek and I drove the the DMV today to practice on their course. Well, for him to practice since I have my license already. He did fine. I just gave him some pointers that my riding coach had given me. It's a really fun little toy, but I can't wait to get a motorcycle. Soon. Hopefully next spring I can be riding on my own bike.
Sigh, schools getting harder, and workers getting more annoying. Gotta live though.
